The First Pics Of Jenna Ortega In Beetlejuice 2 As Winona Ryder's daughter Are Here| Glamour UK

After we learned that Jenna Ortega has landed another role in the Tim Burton universe, the first pictures of her in Beetlejuice 2 have now landed. It's the second time the actor and the filmmaker have worked together.

Though details about the follow-up film are being kept under wraps, we do know Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder as set to reprise their roles as mischievous “bio-exorcist” Beetlejuice and the goth Lydia Deetz. Jenna Ortega joins the two famed actors as Lydia Deetz’s daughter, which seems fitting given how beloved her portrayal of the sardonic Addams family member was.

We now have a glimpse of Jenna in character as the movie is currently being filmed in the UK. People shared photos of her and Winona on set. Jenna can be seen wearing a big white dress (yes, that kind of big white dress), and a matching veil with a jacket over the top. While Winona's look is under wraps as she has a puffa coat and Ugg boots on. However, we can see she's got the same spiky fringe as she rocked in the original movie. We're here for the continuity.

Beetlejuice 2 is the sequel to the popular 1988 supernatural comedy — which starred Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder alongside Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis — and it’s slated to hit cinemas on 6 September 2024, Warner Bros. has confirmed.

A Beetlejuice sequel has been a possibility for many years, dating all the way back to 1990. The last time Tim Burton shared an update on the potential continuation was in 2016. “It’s something that I really would like to do in the right circumstances, but it’s one of those films where it has to be right,” Burton said at the time. It’s not a kind of a movie that cries out [for a sequel]… it’s something that if the elements are right—because I do love the character and Michael’s amazing as that character, so yeah we’ll see." Looks like the stars have finally aligned.

Rumours of Ortega joining the cast for the sequel first started swirling back in March and were later confirmed. American actor and filmmaker Justin Theroux has also joining the cast, though details of his role are still a mystery.

If you thought Jenna Ortega and Tim Burton were the only two people connecting the worlds of Beetlejuice 2 and Netflix’s Wednesday, you’d be wrong. Screenwriters Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, who also worked with Burton on Wednesday as co-creators, writers, and executive producers, have been tapped to pen the Beetlejuice 2 screenplay. (That, and, you know, the fact that season one of Wednesday already featured an easter egg in honour of Beetlejuice.)

Per Variety, production for Beetlejuice 2 is said to have begun in London on May 10, 2023. Adding to its list of star-studded names, the film is also being produced by Brad Pitt’s Plan B company.
